Eco
Camp
Managed by Assam's veteran society's Ronesh Roy, the Eco camp is a basic
but clean and quite comfortable staying option at the Nameri National Park.
Accommodation at the forest camp is provided in the form of tents which
include twin bamboo beds and attached bathrooms with running hot and cold
water. You can get into the forest just by crossing the fence and a ten
minute walk will get you to the river. In an innovative step taken by the
camp authorities to encourage afforestation and wildlife conservation, it is
assured that each child below 12 who comes into the camp, plants a sapling
before leaving. A village and a range office are also located near by. The
tariff structure is Rs. 650 for Indian residents and Rs. 1050 for foreigners
(excluding meals). You could also hire a boat from here, the charges for the
same are : Rs. 350 (Indians) & Rs. 550 (foreigners), extra charges for
boatmen and their food.
Another staying option at Nameri is the Assam Tourist Lodge, 30 km away
towards Bhalukpong. The lodge has been renovated and facilities have been
provided for a comfortable stay. There are plans to start rafting trips from
the lodge. The tariffs are Rs. 550.
